Conscious of the devastating effects of the addiction epidemic currently ravaging families and communities in our state and across the nation, the Archdiocese of Boston’s Opioid Task Force was formed in September 2016 at the request of Cardinal Sean O’Malley.
The goal of the task force is to assist parishes in providing pastoral care and support for individuals and families affected by addiction. In the media, the focus understandably is on “the opioid crisis”, but in fact, while this is the leading edge of the crisis, the scope of it is wider and deeper. Addiction is the deeper issue, with opioid use a piece of a larger problem.
The task force is led by Joe McEnness, RCAB Office of Risk Management, and Deacon Jim Greer, RCAB Office of Chaplaincy Programs.
